Summer Recap | the Student Life and Other Updates

It’s already mid-autumn and I still haven’t posted a recap of my very busy and full summer. I was gone from the blogosphere for much of the summer and fall, enjoying life and definitely not studying like the homeschooler I am. And here’s a quick gloss over of my summer in sweltering hot California.

Summer Plans

☼ Things. . .

–I boarded a plane and flew across the country to some surprisingly better weather, went camping on the coast at Butano State Park for a few lovely foggy days, went cabin-camping at Lassen National Park and kayaked and hiked around there, and last but not least, I went to Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park – I love that place!

–I took a few classes at the local community college and racked up some college credit. Hooray for dual enrollment!!

–I participated in Camp Nanowrimo in July and set a moderate easier goal to continue writing my novel! I actually met my goal, so that’s a success.

–I read lots of books. ACTUAL BOOKS FOR FUN.

☼ Current Favorites and New Discoveries

–Blog Resource: Grammarly and Hemingway App for editing. Grammarly is a neat browser extension and app that catches all my spelling errors on anything I type in my web browser, saving me from embarrassment!

–Music: the mini cover series by Willow City – I love this band! They’re a seriously talented band. (Check out their newest song, Ghosts) I’ve also been into lo-fi/chill hop music. It’s super chill and makes great ambient noise to study to. On my continuous loop of music are Dan Musselman’s instrumental worship music compilations and Alexrainbird’s collection of indie pop/folk music.

–Art: I’ve gone back to the basics of pencil and paper. I’m also really enjoying collage. Nothing like cutting up magazines and using Elmer’s glue stick to give you memories of your childhood.

–Food: My favorite snack foods currently are Bamba peanut puffs from Trader Joe’s and homemade chia pudding topped with blueberries (made with chia seeds, almond or oat milk, vanilla, and maple syrup).

How was your summer? Do we share anything in common? Have you ever had chia pudding? I’d love to know!

as always,

live creatively,

  1. hey gaby! I’ve made chia pudding, but couldn’t get the texture right. It’s such a yummy and healthy snack though! 💕Oh and Trader Joe’s snacks are always awesome 😁
