hallo friends!
We’re on the final Inktober post! I really enjoyed this challenge on the whole and I think it was a good experience, forcing myself to draw for 31 days straight. If you haven’t read my first post, be sure to check it out here. I talk about the pens, markers and sketchbook I using on that post. When you’ve finished there, head over here to see the second in the series.
Enjoy!

DAY 16: ROCKET

Inspired by a shot of the Chinese fireworks in the animated Mulan movie. I love the little lanterns that look like jellyfish.
DAY 17: STORM

Inspired by the Greek myth of Hero and Leander. Hero was a young maiden trapped in a tower of sorts while her lover Leander swam every night to see her. A storm came up and he drowned on his nightly swim to see her. Tragic, isn’t it?
DAY 18: TRAP

Inspired by the Greek myth of Danae and Perseus. Danae’s father had heard a prophecy that his daughter’s son would kill him. He decided to trap her in a dungeon in the ground, with only a small window of light. I’ve captured the moment when Zeus comes down to Danae in a shower of gold.
DAY 19: DIZZY

Turning dancers simply amaze me. They’ve got such control of their bodies and don’t even seem dizzy at all.
DAY 20: CORAL

A crown of coral. Corals are workhorses of the sea, protecting the coastline against storm surges, creating artistic reefs, and providing homes and nutrients to many organisms. It only seems right to create a crown of coral, fit for a princess.
DAY 21: SLEEP

Inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I loved how the lettering turned out for this! An apple of eternal sleep *shudders*
DAY 22: CHEF

Ahhhh, isn’t Remy the most adorable chef? I’ve created a faux polaroid frame for this sketch – maybe it hangs on his wall of memories!
DAY 23: RIP

Inspired by the moment when Cinderella runs away from her stepsisters. I love how the movement of the fabric turned out – it’s a very dynamic sketch.
DAY 24: DIG

A little dwarf for your gardening pleasure.
DAY 25: BUDDY

Olaf will always be Anna’s buddy because “Some things never change.”
DAY 26: HIDE

I was inspired by the fairytale of Donkeyskin, a young woman who hides her true lineage and nature under the dirty skin of a donkey.
DAY 27: MUSIC

Another Rapunzel sketch!
DAY 28: FLOAT

A bird, floating in the air, who comes to deliver a message seems to appear in many fairy tales.
DAY 29: SHOES

A very literal comparison of the life of Cinderella. Day and night.
DAY 30: OMINOUS

The character of Maleficent has always seemed ominous to me. Her cape and horns have the sleekness of a raven and also add to her height and physical space.
DAY 31: CRAWL

What diamond-in-the-rough character hasn’t crawled and scrubbed the floor before their transformation?
