Lacis Museum of Lace and Textiles

Because of Museum Day, I decided to go to a museum. How could you not? I decided to go Lacis in Berkeley, CA. They had a very interesting exhibit on pina cloth.

Pina cloth is made from the sinews and fibers from the pineapple tree.  They scrape the leaves with a pottery shard to get the fibers, which are then knotted together to make a thread. The best quality has 300 knots per inch! The threads are woven together and made into beautiful cloth.

Here are some photos.
