inktober 2020: day 6 to 15

hallo friends!

I’m finally posting this second round of Inktober posts! I’ve been so busy and a tiny bit behind with the sketches because of school and other things, but here we are.

If you haven’t read my first post, be sure to check it out here. I talk about the pens, markers and sketchbook I using on that post.

I know that you don’t necessarily need to have a theme, but I thought I would try to do a fairy tale/storybook concept for each prompt.

Enjoy!

DAY 6: RODENT

LITTLE GUS GUS! Isn’t he just adorable? The word “rodent” usually makes people disgusted and I wanted to go down the cute road… What do you think?

DAY 7: FANCY

I’ve always loved the fashion and style of the 1920s and thought to myself what a different challenge it would be to place Cinderella in the world of the flappers.

DAY 8: TEETH

The prompt “teeth” got me thinking of bone carvings and creation myths originating from island nations. That’s why we have Maui’s hook, which could technically be from a very large tooth from an animal he slayed…You never know…

DAY 9: THROW

Ahhh, this was such an enjoyable process! I immediately thought of a throwing axe and huntsmen, which brought me to Snow White. I must have a thing for recreating concepts in a different light, which was we have a female huntsman here, thought technically, it would be a huntswoman?

DAY 10: HOPE

Chip is always so hopeful and cheerful, despite his current position and appearance as a little teacup. We need more Chips in this world.

DAY 11: DISGUSTING

I wanted to explore “disgusting” in a deeper, rather than shallower and superficial light. Personally, I think Cinderella’s stepmother displays this really well. Her character is just despicable to the core.

DAY 12: SLIPPERY

This brought back so much nostalgia for me. It also feels so romantic.

DAY 13: DUNE

The Den of Thieves from Aladdin. Large, monstrous, and terrifying.

DAY 14: ARMOR

Once again, here is a female warrior. This time, I drew my own conceptualization of Eowyn from Lord of the Rings. I drew from the movie adaptation but added my own touches.

DAY 15: OUTPOST

What’s a better representation of an outpost in fairy tale lore than Rapunzel’s tower? Honestly, it feels as though our homes have become mini outposts during this pandemic. Anyone else feel the same?

What was your favorite sketch out of these selections? Did you have a favorite prompt? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

live creatively!
